What is the cheapest way to make a backyard look like a party?

Can lighting go on the sand?
Battery lighting can, carefully. Sand and salt air are hard on gear, so we bag the bases and ask you to keep everything above the tide line. Tell us it is a beach job when you book.
Is a smoke machine worth it?
If you have hired a laser or a moving head, yes, because otherwise you cannot see the beams. If you have only hired up lights and a mirror ball, save your money.
